Apocalypse Beginning: I’M Pregnant With The Blackened Male Lead’S Child

Chapter 19: Got it! Really got it!

Leaning against the cold wall, Su Wan had only one thought in her mind.

Two lines, two lines, it must be two lines!

She practically closed her eyes as she picked up the pregnancy test stick.

Then, she snapped them open.

Two clear red lines.

Phew—

Su Wan let out a long breath, nearly collapsing to the floor.

She was pregnant! She really was!

She pulled the door open.

Lu Shiyan was standing not far from the door, his back to her, looking out the window.

Hearing the movement, he turned around.

Su Wan handed him the pregnancy test stick, trying to keep her voice calm.

"Two lines."

Lu Shiyan took it, his gaze falling on it and lingering for a few seconds.

His face remained expressionless.

Su Wan's heart tightened again.

This wasn't enough?

"Lie down on the sofa." Lu Shiyan put down the pregnancy test stick and picked up the black briefcase.

Su Wan: "..."

Again?

Seriously?

She shuffled slowly to the sofa.

"Lift your clothes." Lu Shiyan opened the instrument, took out the probe and coupling agent, his tone like he was directing a surgery.

Su Wan tensed her body. The probe on her lower abdomen was ice-cold. Lu Shiyan's gaze was fixed on the screen. The screen was small. It was a black and white image. She tried hard to see. Besides a blurry mess, she couldn't make out anything.

Su Wan's heart was pounding, threatening to leap out of her throat. No way? Could the B-scan not see it at such an early stage? If it couldn't see it… her life was on the line!

Lu Shiyan suddenly moved the probe. His brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.

Su Wan's heart instantly jumped to her throat. Did he see it? Or not? "How is it?" She couldn't help but ask.

Lu Shiyan didn't speak. He was still staring at the screen. Su Wan felt time passing even slower than those five minutes in the bathroom.

Lu Shiyan's fingers pressed a few times on the instrument. He seemed to be adjusting something. His expression was still cold. Only his gaze was more focused. Su Wan didn't even dare to breathe loudly.

"Here." Lu Shiyan suddenly spoke. He pointed to a spot on the screen.

Su Wan quickly turned her head to look. The place he pointed to seemed to have a tiny white dot? Or was it a tiny black dot? It was too blurry. She couldn't understand it at all. "What is this?" she asked cautiously.

Lu Shiyan looked up at her. His eyes were complex. But they quickly returned to calm.

"Gestational sac." He uttered two words.

Gestational sac? Su Wan's mind instantly exploded. Gestational sac! That meant she was pregnant! The B-scan also saw it! It wasn't a false alarm from the pregnancy test stick! It wasn't a mistake! It was real! Her suspended heart finally fell back into her chest.

Lu Shiyan turned off the instrument. He put away the probe. He glanced at Su Wan.

Su Wan quickly pulled her pajamas back down. She sat up. She felt as if she had just walked through the gates of hell. "Do you believe me now?" She looked up at him, her voice a little airy.

Lu Shiyan didn't answer. He just put the instrument back in the box. Then he closed it. The room fell silent again.

Su Wan waited for him to speak. She waited for his reaction. She waited for even a hint of surprise or something else. However. Lu Shiyan just put the box aside. Then he looked at her.

Su Wan was a bit confused. This reaction wasn't right, was it? Shouldn't there be something else? Like surprise? Like questioning? Like... wild joy?

Although wild joy was impossible.

But at least he shouldn't be so calm, right?

"Don't you have anything to say?" Su Wan couldn't help but ask.

Lu Shiyan looked at her. After a long pause.

"It seems."

"You didn't lie."

Su Wan: "..."

Damn it! What kind of reaction was this?! She was about to laugh from anger.

"Ah!" Zhang Ma let out a short gasp. It was Zhang Ma, who had returned after tidying up, and saw the pregnancy test stick.

She rushed forward a few steps, moving so fast she almost created a breeze, cautiously approaching the coffee table as if afraid of disturbing something.

"Miss!" Zhang Ma's voice was filled with uncontrollable excitement, even trembling slightly, "It's! It's true! You're going to have a baby!"

Zhang Ma suddenly reached out, wanting to hug her, but stopped halfway, instead tightly clasping her own hands and spinning in a circle on the spot.

"This is wonderful, wonderful! I must hurry and prepare, I need to take good care of you and the little one!"

"I'll go check the new ingredients and seasonings we brought back. Oh, right, didn't you say you wanted to eat spicy chicken the day before yesterday?"

Zhang Ma chattered on, her footsteps hurried as she headed towards the kitchen. "I'll go right now!"

Zhang Ma's joyful exclamations were cut off behind her, like the lively sounds of another world.

Su Wan returned to the room, walked to the bed, and fell heavily backward. The soft mattress received her, enveloping her.

She felt dazed and confused.

A strange fatigue permeated her limbs, she turned on her side, curled up, and unconsciously placed her hand on her still-flat lower abdomen.

There, a tiny life was brewing.

A... reason for her to live.

Perhaps due to the pregnancy, she closed her eyes. Sleep quickly enveloped her.

Meanwhile, Lu Shiyan's emotions were complex. His fingers unconsciously clenched, knuckles white, veins bulging. The woman he hated to the core, the demon who had imprisoned and tormented him, was now truly carrying his child.

He turned and strode away, his footsteps echoing in the empty corridor.

The study door slammed shut. Lu Shiyan leaned against the door, his chest heaving. He closed his eyes, trying to calm his breathing, but found his hand trembling slightly.

"Damn it!"

He cursed softly, his well-defined knuckles clenched, and he slammed his fist into the cold wall beside him.

The study door was pushed open a crack, and light streamed in diagonally.

Footsteps approached, neither fast nor slow.

Xiao Han leaned against the doorframe, casually tossing a shiny metal lighter in his hand, making a crisp clicking sound.

The supplies had been inventoried, and he seemed to be in a good mood.

"Lu Da Shao." Xiao Han's voice held a hint of casual teasing, "What's wrong?"

He paused, the lighter flipping between his fingers, "She's carrying your child, and you're still throwing such a big fit?"

"If you ruin your health, who will feel sorry for you?"

Lu Shiyan slowly turned around, shadows obscuring most of his figure. "What are you doing here?"

Xiao Han stepped inside, his leather shoes making almost no sound on the expensive carpet.

He put the lighter back into his pocket, his movements unhurried.

"Delivering some things."

"And seeing how the future father is adapting."

Before his words even finished.

Lu Shiyan's figure suddenly blurred.

The air was torn, a fierce gust of wind rushing forward.

Xiao Han didn't even have time to fully turn sideways.

"Bang!"

A dull thud. It was the sound of a fist hitting flesh.

Xiao Han grunted, his body uncontrollably stumbling backward, hitting the bookshelf behind him.

"Damn it!"

He spat, steadying himself.

Lu Shiyan didn't pause, the second punch followed closely, aimed directly at his face.

Xiao Han raised his arm to block.

A dull pain from bone-on-bone collision shot through his arm.

"Mad dog!" he growled.
