Arknights: Theresa'S Miraculous Arrival

Chapter 28: What does "just for me" mean?

Theresa and Xing Chen strolled through the exhibition hall, looking at the weapons sealed in glass display cases, and she had a question.

"Xing Chen, there were so many people outside the venue just now, where have they all gone?"

It took them a lot of time just to queue to enter the venue, but now Xing Chen could stand in front of the display case, unhurriedly giving her a tour.

"Because everything here is old antiques; everyone prefers newer and more advanced things."

After speaking, Xing Chen gave a mysterious smile, then pulled Theresa's hand and hurried towards a door.

Walking through the corridor, the view on the other side instantly widened.

"Boom~~~ Whoosh---"

Theresa was startled by the loud noise; she turned her head to look and found many children riding on their fathers' shoulders, and higher up was a huge display screen, from which the sound was emanating.

She patted Xing Chen's shoulder, asking him what the flashes and thick smoke were.

Xing Chen told her that it was their country's missile forces.

"Missiles? What are those? Are they a type of rocket-propelled grenade?"

"You've seen rocket-propelled grenades?"

"No, I've only heard that other countries have shells that fly using rocket boosters."

Knowing what rocket-propelled grenades were, it was even simpler for Xing Chen to explain missiles.

"You can understand them as rocket-propelled grenades that are faster, more powerful, and more accurate," Xing Chen's statement wasn't entirely accurate, because the performance of other countries' missiles might not necessarily be superior to their own rocket-propelled grenades, "Most importantly, they can mostly fly at high altitudes or even in orbit."

"High altitude? Oh, you don't have a barrier layer," Theresa showed surprise at humanity's missile technology.

"Haven't you seen similar items in the black crown?" Xing Chen asked curiously.

"I didn't notice," Theresa shook her head.

Xing Chen was not clear about what information the Seer and Prythian had put into the continuity of civilization.

Perhaps they thought these weapons were too outdated, or perhaps they thought this knowledge would not have much positive effect on civilizational development.

Theresa's search also had her biases; perhaps compared to weapons, she was more interested in exploring information about Oripathy.

Xing Chen was a little disappointed; he had previously wanted to directly extract some advanced technology from Theresa, but now it seemed impossible.

As the two were chatting, the children suddenly burst into cheers.

"You show such young children videos of striking high-speed battleships, and yet you say you love peace," Theresa rested her head on Xing Chen's shoulder, teasing him with playful words.

"Those aren't high-speed battleships... never mind, think what you will."

However, he felt his shoulder become a little heavy. Carefully turning his head, Theresa was facing him with a weary smile.

Perhaps she was thinking about some things concerning Babel? Xing Chen guessed, but ultimately did not ask directly.

Soon, Theresa cheered up, and the two continued their tour.

Vehicles such as tanks, armored vehicles, and armed drones all have corresponding types of equipment in Terra, with only slight differences in application due to differing performance.

As for high-tech equipment like powered armor and humanoid robots, Terra people, relying on the uniqueness of Originium Arts, even did better than humans.

But none of these were the reason Xing Chen brought Theresa here. He alone could not move an entire industry chain from research and development to production, and he and Theresa could not fill the population needed for a complete line from production to application.

He needed some basic and easy-to-use weapons to allow an armed populace to fight small units of conventional troops in non-frontal battles.

"Theresa, over here!"

Xing Chen pulled Theresa's hand and squeezed through the crowd to the booth.

A soldier was introducing the weapon in his hand to the crowd.

"...Barrett is junk; my sniper grenade will send you and your cover straight to heaven..."

Theresa listened intently; this was truly the weapon that met their needs.

Terra people do not have "guns" in a similar concept to humans, but for slightly larger caliber cannons, they overlap with humans.

Many mercenaries and armed individuals use grenade launchers.

Xing Chen felt that the role these grenade launchers played in Terra was similar to human pistols.

If Terra people were to learn human weapon technology, it should be based on grenade launchers.

At this moment, a soldier handed the sniper grenade to Theresa. The Demon Lord Girl easily took it, then raised it, pulled the bolt, astonishing everyone around her.

"So light. Is this your individual weapon?"

Facing Theresa's question, the soldier who handed over the gun was also bewildered; he looked at his companion, who was also greatly surprised by Theresa's monstrous strength.

Xing Chen was a little speechless; had he forgotten to remind her not to easily display her strength when they came out? After all, in Terra, a Feline less than 1.5 meters tall could fire anti-ship cannons while holding a shield.

"I guess so, since we don't carry guns anymore," the older-looking soldier said.

"Why don't you try this one?" The soldier who handed out the sniper grenade seemed to enjoy the spectacle, actively pushing through the crowd and leading the two to his teammate's booth.

Although the domestically produced heavy machine guns are the lightest among similar equipment globally, people who haven't trained are not so easy to pick them up.

And Theresa? To her, this thing was just like an ordinary rifle.

"Xing Chen, why don't you try?"

Xing Chen declined Theresa's invitation, and several soldiers patted his shoulder, showing expressions that men understood.

"What are you laughing at?" Theresa put down the heavy machine gun and asked, full of confusion.

"Nothing," Xing Chen waved his hand, "Do you have anything else you want to see? If not, let's go back."

Theresa shook her head; there were only a few weapons here that offered novelty.

"Which weapon do you think is more suitable for your side?" Xing Chen asked Theresa as they walked out of the venue.

"Emmm... I think the heavy machine gun is quite suitable. It's light, easy to carry, and has enough power to deal with common light-armored units."

"I thought you would say sniper grenades or missiles."

"I'm not stupid; those weapons are high-speed and high-precision. Our industrial level there can't produce them. At least Kazdel and some black factories are like that."

"Then you can also have Theresis transport more industrial equipment from Victoria back from Londinium. And he also needs to learn operating techniques and won't make things difficult for the Londinium workers."

"Xing Chen, what you said is great. I was just wondering how to prevent my brother from harming innocent civilians in Victoria."

Xing Chen chuckled; he didn't think those Victorians were innocent. Who created the Steam Knights that invaded Kazdel two hundred years ago? And who provided food, weapons, and soldiers for the Victorian garrison oppressing Tara?

However, he didn't want to say it now, because the time wasn't right.

"By the way, Xing Chen, what weapons do you want to bring to those Tara people?"

"I've already thought of it, but it's not the weapons in there."

"Eh?"
