Killing an Imperial Guard in seconds? Is the Sarkaz Demon King that powerful?
Talulah looked at Patriot, who responded with a shake of his head.
The Demon King isn’t just whoever is the strongest fighter. He was one of the witnesses to Ilesh’s tragedy.
Xiao Te is indeed very strong, though.
“Xiao Ta, look at the Imperial Guards’ actions just now. They seem genuinely afraid of Ms. Theresa—they didn’t even dare to act particularly tough in front of Mr. Xing Chen.”
Since that’s the case, let’s temporarily believe the Imperial Guards.
The two major foundations of cooperation—benefit and trust—are now present, so we can discuss how to proceed.
In this negotiation, the Ursus Empire currently holds the dominant position, so the Imperial Guard spoke first.
“We hope the Reunion Movement can help the Empire eliminate the two rebellious Army Groups, as well as some of the Imperial Guard.”
“Cough, cough!!!” Hearing this demand, Talulah was stunned.
The outlying patrol of one Army Group could already suppress the Reunion Movement. Directly confronting two Army Groups? She wouldn’t even dare to dream of such a thing in Koschei’s home.
Xing Chen patted Talulah’s shoulder. Theresa told her not to rush negotiations, but to first clarify all of the other party’s demands before bargaining.
“Then what assistance can you provide?”
In response to Talulah’s question, the Imperial Guard directly pulled out a folder.
After passing through Xing Chen and Theresa’s hands and being confirmed safe, the document was passed to the Reunion Movement.
It recorded all transportation routes and guard conditions of the icefield mines.
“The Infected mines on the icefield are a crucial economic source for the Third and Fourth Army Groups. Especially these large mines—taking them down can severely cripple their supply of materials.”
The Reunion Movement and the Guerrillas had always been harassing small mines on the icefield, which was an important means for them to obtain supplies and recruit new members.
However, they had always kept their distance from the large mines, because the former’s defense forces were poorly equipped Infected Control Squads, while the latter were well-equipped regular troops.
“But even with this intelligence, it’s impossible for us to defeat the garrison there,” Talulah said, puzzled.
“That’s your problem to solve. We are only responsible for providing what assistance we can.”
Ultimately, the Imperial Guard still saw the Reunion Movement as a tool, but tools vary in purpose and value.
The same mobile phone might be used by Xing Chen for five or six years, while Brother Wang would replace it with a new model in one or two years.
If the Imperial Guard cooperating with Koschei merely saw the Reunion Movement as a fuse to start a war with the Yan Country, then the Imperial Guard brought by Xing Chen and Theresa saw the Reunion Movement as an engine for Ursus’s advancement.
“Understood,” Patriot spoke up. He looked at Theresa, then slowly said, “Under the guarantee of His Royal Highness the Demon King, I will complete this mission. However, you must update the equipment for my Guerrillas.”
“We will provide you with an operational plan for a military equipment transport landship.”
Patriot nodded. This situation was much better than the expected solo fight against Talulah’s Reunion Movement.
Next, the Imperial Guard produced a second document, which contained specific information about some Ursus nobles.
Xing Chen glanced at it. These were all powerful nobles from Chernobog.
“These nobles colluded with Koschei, attempting to obscure the Emperor’s glory. Their two masterminds have already been brought to justice. Saint Junius has sealed the news, and the task of clearing them out is left to you.”
Clearing out nobles? This seemed much simpler. All that was needed was to form a powerful assassination squad.
Coincidentally, she had a few good candidates.
“There’s one more thing: Chernobog and its affiliated icefield mines are an autonomous region designated for you by His Majesty. We hope you can ensure these facilities remain as intact as possible.”
“You mean, this city is being given to us?” Alina asked the Imperial Guard, shocked. “Isn’t this a bit…”
“No, Aelafia,” the Imperial Guard interrupted her exclamation. “This city is not being given to you. It will serve as a test, allowing you to prove that you are high-value Infected for the Empire.”
“However, Ursus will still provide assistance,” Theresa finished what the Imperial Guard had left unsaid. “Because the two Grand Dukes have been arrested, Saint Junius will dispatch some officials. Some of these officials will assist you in your operations.”
The Imperial Guard had finished outlining the assistance they could provide. Now it was the Reunion Movement’s turn to discuss its obligations.
Talulah was somewhat displeased. They had to take enormous risks to fight two Army Groups, only to gain a city and a few mines.
“Enough, Talulah, you should know the Yan Country saying, ‘Contentment brings happiness.’ At least you have obtained the promise of a mobile city. Our Sarkaz mercenaries fought for various countries in the past, only to be met with a siege by all nations.”
Theresa followed Xing Chen everywhere. Wasn’t what she wanted also a promise for Kazdel?
You, Talulah, only have to confront two Ursus Army Groups, while I, Sarkaz, have to face the combined fleets of the Victoria Grand Dukes.
Out of consideration for Xing Chen, Theresa didn’t speak her mind directly.
The fact that he could secure such rights for someone he didn’t even know was already a great feat for an Infected organization. What more could they ask for?
As Theresa’s displeasure was almost written on her face, Talulah and Patriot didn’t dare to say anything more.
“Since you have agreed, I will now discuss the obligations you need to fulfill.”
First, regarding the army: the Reunion Movement can retain absolute control over its armed forces, but it must unconditionally accept Infected soldiers from other Army Groups and provide them with treatment commensurate with their original status.
Ivan, as a former shieldguard, nodded, and Patriot also indicated his acceptance.
Second, the Reunion Movement must continue to pay taxes as usual. The tax rate will be slightly increased from Chernobog’s original rate, and the tax revenue, apart from a portion for daily city maintenance, must be directly submitted to the Saint Junius national treasury.
Talulah had some objections to this blatant discrimination and exploitation, but Alina held her back, as there was a great deal of room for manipulation within this arrangement.
The third, and very important, point is that the Reunion Movement’s armed forces must obey the Emperor’s deployment, enter designated battlefields, fight specific targets, and are not allowed to refuse. However, they can retain their own mid- and lower-level commanders, and supplies will be handled by Ursus’s Logistics Headquarters.
In plain language, it meant they only had to send troops. No need to even think about it; it would definitely be a battlefield too dangerous for regular Army Groups to enter.
Given the Ursus people’s enthusiasm for war, this point usually wouldn’t face much opposition. Interestingly, Talulah, on the other hand, nodded uncharacteristically.
She believed that given the current international environment on Terra, such a war was unlikely to occur in the short term. This meant she could arm her forces as much as possible during this period, and even if they went to war, she could protect herself.
Thus, both parties smoothly signed the memorandum. There might be slight adjustments when they act out the roles later, but this was the general outline.
Xing Chen and Theresa both smirked.
