From Blood Mage To Patriarch Of Styx

Chapter 30: I catch myself?

In the Nabolei Underground Tomb, two Mages stood facing each other; seemingly harmonious, but with undercurrents of tension.

“Lord Farga, I wonder what exactly the Lord has commanded?” Mo Di feigned confusion, though he had already guessed Farga’s intentions.

He was simply looking for the murderer of Julia, and also wanted to meet De Wei An.

Perhaps the latter was his true objective.

Farga smiled slightly and took out a secret letter from Lord Gustavo.

It might have been against the rules to show a secret letter directly to an apprentice, but in his eyes, Mo Di was already a dead man, and dead men cause no trouble.

“The Lord’s most beloved daughter, Julia Alvarez, is dead, killed in the wilderness surrounding the Frost Ember Territory.”

He sighed, seemingly full of regret.

“She was such a lovely and sensible girl. She would even affectionately call me Uncle Farga when she saw me. But a scoundrel exploited her kindness and tricked her into leaving the Frost Ember Territory.

After that, I don’t know what happened, but in short, she died, out in the wild.”

Farga had a decent impression of Julia; after all, she always deliberately maintained noble etiquette when dealing with people of the same social class.

As for commoners? Who would care about those bastards born in the mud?

Julia wouldn’t, and Farga certainly wouldn’t.

He was a Mage who graduated from Frost Tower Mage Academy, and in his view, he and those mud-footed commoners were not the same species.

“To lay hands on such a lovely lady, the murderer is truly detestable.”

Mo Di said against his will.

As he spoke, his brows were tightly furrowed, appearing indignant.

In reality, he was merely disgusted by his own words.

“Indeed, because of this, the Lord sent me to find De Wei An, who is skilled in Blood Magic, hoping she can help locate Julia’s murderer.”

Farga looked at the man in front of him and spread his hands helplessly.

“I just didn’t expect De Wei An to be out today, and only you are in the Nabolei Underground Tomb.”

“So, you want me to find the murderer’s tracks?” Mo Di narrowed his eyes.

What kind of situation was this? Me catching myself?

‘This is as ridiculous as asking S.H.I.E.L.D. to capture Hydra. Did he never consider that I or De Wei An might be the murderer?’

Farga indeed hadn't considered this. In his opinion, although De Wei An was a beautiful lunatic, she understood the principle of self-preservation and wouldn't easily offend the Lord of Frost Ember Territory.

Greta was the surname of a certain noble, and De Wei An would only capture commoners as experimental subjects.

“You are the apprentice who has stayed the longest in the Greta School. You must have learned the 【Bloodline Perception】 spell by now, right? As long as you can complete the commission, these will be yours.”

As Farga spoke, he took out a bag, from which came the dull clinking sound of metal.

He never intended to actually give the reward. After the commission was completed and he had achieved his goal, this bag of gold coins was to be taken back.

“【Bloodline Perception】 requires the target’s blood as a casting material…”

“You don’t have to worry about that; I’ve already brought it.”

Before Mo Di could finish, he took out an amber-colored crystal, in which a drop of blood was sealed.

Taking the crystal, Mo Di had nothing more to say. Since Farga wanted to know, then he would let him know.

The constant spell activated instantly, and the next moment, a bloodline extended from the crystal.

Farga stared intently at the bloodline, watching it spread all the way behind him… finally merging into a ghoul.

“This is…” He paused, his gaze fixed on the ghoul’s somewhat familiar face.

“Julia? No, that’s not right, this is an illusion.”

The constant divination spell allowed him to see through the illusion, but he didn’t expect the illusion in his eyes to grin and transform into black mist, pouncing towards him.

The moment the black mist entered his body, Farga, as a Transcendent, immediately identified what it was.

“A curse?!”

Upon contact with this thing, Farga immediately showed an expression like he had eaten a dead fly, his face full of disgust.

The curse was deeply rooted, bringing him an uncontrollable rapid regeneration ability.

Every part of his body was proliferating and deforming, and even his mouth began to grow dense teeth.

No matter how many healing spells he used on himself, he couldn't cure himself, because this was essentially uncontrolled regeneration, not damage.

Instead, purification spells had an effect, though not much, only barely suppressing the increase of the curse.

“It’s you, you’re behind this!” He reacted, glaring angrily at Mo Di.

“It’s me. Would you mind telling me how you feel? So I can modify this spell.”

Mo Di held a notebook in one hand and a pen in the other, rapidly making notes.

This action, to Farga, a proud Transcendent, was undoubtedly an act of contempt.

When had he ever been so disdained by a Mage apprentice?

“You wild Mage, I’ll make you pay the price!”

“Alright, alright, the experimental subject is showing agitated emotions, suspected to have a decrease in sanity…” Mo Di humored him while recording his changes.

“The curse can proliferate by devouring the target’s negative emotions, and at the same time further stimulate the target’s emotions…”

An experimental subject who was a Transcendent could bring him immeasurable value.

Even in the Ling Corporation, he couldn't find such an experimental subject, and he didn't expect to encounter one as soon as he returned to the Eternity Continent.

It was truly a wonderful coincidence.

Seeing that he still ignored him, Farga became angry out of humiliation, stopped purifying himself, and raised his hand, sending five fireballs crashing towards him.

Mo Di easily dodged the incoming fireballs, put away his paper and pen, and with three steps becoming two, arrived in front of Farga.

He started with the military killing fist, unleashing a punch driven by pure killing intent.

The speed was so fast, and the force so great, that Farga had no time to react.

He only saw a black shadow flash past him, then felt a pain in his jaw, and his whole body flew high, his back of the head hitting the wall.

If it weren't for the 【Mana Protection】 he had already set up, his injuries would have been even more severe.

‘This level of strength, is he a Knight of Transcendent rank?’ Farga climbed up from the ground, the contempt in his eyes completely gone.

His injuries healed completely in the blink of an eye, but tumor-like growths appeared at the wound sites.

This was the result of the uncontrollable regeneration ability.

“Not dead?” Mo Di dispersed his killing intent, raising an eyebrow in surprise, “It seems you’re much stronger than De Wei An, but unfortunately, your mind is as abnormal as hers.”

“What do you mean by that?” Farga heard something amiss in his words. Concerned about his beloved, he put everything else aside and quickly pressed for an answer.

“It means that when she died by my hand, she wasn’t as strong as you.”

Mo Di, who was always straightforward, did not hide anything.

“She could probably only take one punch from me now, but you’re different. Although you won’t live as long as her, you have more shields, so you can probably take two to three punches from me.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Farga’s expression collapsed.

He couldn’t believe this outcome, couldn’t believe that the woman he had waited for so long had died without his knowledge.

“No, you’re lying. How could you, a bastard born in the mud, kill her, who possesses the bloodline of the Greta Family?”

“Greta Family? Just a fallen noble family. Let alone her, even the noble lady of Alvarez, and you, I’ll kill them all the same.”

As he spoke, Mo Di closed the distance between them. At the same time, fine dragon scales grew on his body, transforming him into a half-human, half-dragon.

Sometimes, some ignorant fellows always said things that displeased Mo Di.

Originally, this would only make him act without restraint, but now it was different. The existence of the Seed of Mind made this emotion truly become his power.

Just like the twisted form he displayed at this moment due to anger, the Blood Dragon.

The Blood Dragon, a symbol of tyranny, was bound by his sanity, and one claw struck the head of the sycophantic Mage.

The immense force caused Farga to scream in pain, but to Mo Di at this moment, the sound was exceptionally pleasing.

He pulled hard, and the tyrannical force brutally tore the sycophant’s head from his neck.

In an instant, blood gushed out, and Farga’s expression was forever frozen in terror and pain.

The dragon scales slowly receded, and Mo Di transformed back into his human form.

“The sycophant is dead, a satisfying outcome. Who knows how many people who would have been captured as experimental subjects by him have been saved now.”

His benevolence was temporarily satisfied at this moment.

“But on the Eternity Continent, there are still too many suffering people. Killing just him is not enough.”

To save more people, he had to kill more people.

Killing was saving, and saving was killing.

Farga’s corpse on the ground turned into blood mist and dissipated into nothingness.

【Transcendent - Pyromancer - Farga Carter】

【Pyromancy Mastery, Spell Enhancement, Obsession】

“What’s the deal with these two entries?”

Previously, the bloodstained book had never displayed such entries, which made him feel puzzled.

Mo Di put on his glasses and flipped through the bloodstained book. Before long, he found the answer on its pages.

Based on the strength and characteristics of the page’s owner during their lifetime, each page could condense corresponding entries. These entries could be transferred to other pages, granting that page a corresponding amplification.

The power carried by the page varied, and so did the entry capacity of the page.

Take the Page of De Wei An, for instance. Its entry capacity was five, and it was already occupied by three entries: 【Blood Magic Mastery】, 【Spell Enhancement】, and 【Madness】.

“It’s a pity that identical entries cannot be stacked, otherwise I would have double 【Spell Enhancement】.”

Mo Di sighed regretfully. He had just confirmed that this was a change brought to the bloodstained book by the Seed of Mind.

This meant that this seed, obtained from a shard of the light god, was even more useful than he had known.

Being able to interact with a wondrous item like the bloodstained book proved that the Seed of Mind was at least on the same level of existence as it.

After tinkering with the bloodstained book’s new function, Mo Di had a sudden idea and quickly turned to his good friend’s legacy.

【Transcendent - Blood Mage Apprentice - Ed Morse】

【Apprentice’s Heart, Killing Intent Surging】

Unlike the Page of De Wei An, Ed’s page only had an entry capacity of four. Correspondingly, because its inherent power was not strong, Mo Di could bear it for a longer time.

It was basically balanced with his body’s recovery speed.

“That is to say, I can first fill up Ed’s page’s entry capacity and keep it active normally, which would be a constant enhancement for me.”

Once this thought appeared, it couldn’t be stopped.
