However, when Yu Dong thought about how most of the injuries were healed, she couldn’t help but smile with satisfaction flooding her eyes.
The only thing now that they needed to deal with was the blood clot in the back of Yu Fei’s head, which shouldn’t take long.
But Yu Fei had to wake up, or Yu Dong wouldn’t be able to deal with that clot.
After all, the human brain was the most delicate organ. The smallest mistake could cause fatal injuries. And in the worst-case scenario, death. So it was better to deal with the blood clot when Yu Fei was awake.
On the other side, Xiao Chuxia finished her meal as quickly as possible. She was in a hurry to go back inside and stay by Yu Fei’s side. She was about to put the bowl of porridge down and head inside when Yu Yue snapped at her. “What kind of attitude is this? Your brother brought you a meal and now you are leaving the bowl without washing it? This is not your home, so quit acting like a tyrant.”
“I wasn’t.” Xiao Chuxia paled as she immediately picked up the bowl and then turned around. She was worried that if she was a second late, Yu Yue would think that she bossed around Yu Fei just like how she acted carelessly with Xiao Cai.
Once she was gone, Yu Yue snorted and then picked up the bowl that she had finished and placed it on the bench. She then turned to walk towards the ward and then said to Yu Dong and Wu Junfen, “Go ahead and eat you two.”
She then looked at their pale faces and knew that the two of them were doing something to help Yu Fei. Yu Yue couldn’t help but ask, “Is he alright?”
“He should be fine,” Wu Junfen replied.
And no sooner did she finish speaking; the mer on the bed stirred and then opened his eyes.
Yu Yue, who saw him open his eyes, was touched and excited. She immediately rushed inside the ward and said to Yu Fei, “Fei..Fei..Fei Fei, you are awake?”
Yu Fei turned to look at his sister, who was standing next to him, and asked, “Sister?”
“Great, that’s great; you can still remember me,” Yu Yue was really excited, but her excitement turned into worry when she heard Yu Fei say, “How are you so old?”
As soon as these words were spoken, Yu Yue was stunned. She took Yu Fei’s hands into hers and asked, “Fei’er, can you tell me how old you are?”
“I am eleven, aren’t I?” The mer replied, and Yu Yue’s eyes turned red.
When Yu Yue heard his response, her eyes turned red. Sure enough, he had forgotten all about Xiao Chuxia and their family.
Because when he was eleven, he and Xiao Chuxia were ordinary friends who didn’t meet much.
“What’s going on?” Yu Fei asked but then his eyes widened and he let out a moan of pain. “My legs… my legs… I can’t move them.”
“Aunt, you should go and call the physician in charge,” Yu Dong said hurriedly. “It seems like the numbing medicine has stopped working.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Yu Yue realised her mistake and she rushed out of the ward.
She called the physician in a hurry.
Who would have thought that before the physician could arrive Xiao Chuxia came running. She looked at Yu Fei, who was blinking his eyes and talking with Yu Yue, and her heart that was hanging by the thin rope finally settled down.
“Yu Fei!”
She yelled so loudly that everyone in the ward jumped, including Yu Fei.
Yu Dong turned and looked at the woman before saying angrily, “Can you be a bit quiet, Aunt? You scared Uncle Fei.”
“I am sorry,” Xiao Chuxia immediately apologised and entered the room. She approached Yu Fei’s bed and asked him, “Fei’er, are you alright? Don’t be afraid, I am here.”
Yu Dong rolled her eyes when she heard Xiao Chuxia ask Yu Fei if he was alright or not. That mer nearly lost his life, and both his legs were broken.
Now he had to listen to the chattering of Xiao Chuxia; how could he be fine?
At that time, the doctors and the helpers rushed inside the ward.
They walked over to where Yu Fei was lying, and the physician then said to the helpers, “Apply the numbing ointment; now that he is awake, the wounds are hurting him.”
The helpers immediately started helping around the ward and rubbed the numbing ointment on Yu Fei’s legs.
Once the pain stopped, Yu Fei breathed a sigh of relief.
“Fei’er?” seeing that Yu Fei was not even looking at her, Xiao Chuxia called him again.
As a response, Yu Fei turned to look at her and glanced at her with annoyance. “Who are you?”
Xiao Chuxia was stunned when she heard Yu Fei ask her who she was; she blinked the tears in her eyes and spoke in a distressing voice, “I am your wife.”
“I don’t have a wife…”
“Fei’er!” Xiao Chuxia panicked. She wanted to say something more, but then Yu Fei frowned because his head started to hurt.
“Please don’t agitate the patient,” the physician said to Xiao Chuxia. “He has just woken up, and the clot in his head is yet to be removed. It’s a miracle that he woke up, but we should let him have some rest.”
“Don’t force him to remember things that he does not remember at the moment.”
The physician’s words made Xiao Chuxia’s eyes turn red. She asked her, “Will he remember me?”
“We can’t say anything for sure,” the physician replied with a calm voice. “Every patient is different. Some remember everything at once, while some need weeks or maybe years before they can remember the memories that they have lost.”
Xiao Chuxia stumbled upon hearing the response. Years? How could she live without Yu Fei for years?
