After accompanying Tony downstairs, they saw Pepper and Dr. Yinsen waiting anxiously downstairs.
Dr. Yinsen’s complexion looked good, and there were no signs of him being abused by Obadiah.
Seeing Chen Yu and Tony emerge from the elevator, both of them breathed a sigh of relief and then hurried over.
Pepper wanted to help support Tony.
But Tony’s hundreds of pounds of equipment were not something Pepper, an ordinary person, could support, so she could only look at Tony with anxious eyes, not knowing what to do.
“Tony, are you alright? We just heard the roar of some kind of monster. You two weren’t hurt, were you?”
Tony placed the unconscious Obadiah on the ground, ran a hand through his hair, and put on a relaxed, problem-solving demeanor.
“Of course, I’m Tony Stark. There’s nothing in this world that can stump me, and with the help of the amazing kid, dealing with a mere Obadiah is a piece of cake. As for the roar you heard? That’s the amazing kid’s pet, but he’s put it away. His pet is actually quite cute if you look closely.”
Watching Tony show off, Chen Yu couldn’t help but remind him with his wand: “It’s wizard. If you call me amazing kid again, I’ll really use Transfiguration to make your mouth disappear.”
After warning the incorrigible Tony, Chen Yu handed the still-warm arc reactor to Pepper.
“Quickly change the ‘flashlight’ in Tony’s chest. This guy with no filter in his mouth, his arc reactor is almost out of power, and he’s still babbling here.”
“Originally, I wanted Dr. Yinsen to help him change it, but he said only you are qualified to change his arc reactor; no one else is qualified to touch his chest.”
Hearing that Tony’s original arc reactor was almost out of power, Pepper immediately pulled Tony towards the hallway.
Tony, afraid of injuring Pepper, could only follow her.
Now, only Chen Yu and Dr. Yinsen were left at the scene.
Just as Chen Yu was about to discuss Natasha with Dr. Yinsen, he saw a sexy redhead in a ladies’ suit and high heels rush out from around the corner and jog to Dr. Yinsen.
The sexy woman said, a little out of breath: “Dr. Yinsen… it’s so good to find you. I haven’t seen you at home much lately. I looked for you for a long time at Stark Industries today, but I couldn’t find you…”
Looking at the breathless woman, Dr. Yinsen asked somewhat strangely: “I’m sorry, Assistant Natasha, I’ve been busy lately and haven’t been back much. Is there something you need me for?”
Dr. Yinsen did not tell her that Obadiah had threatened him to make an arc reactor and then imprisoned him after he failed, but he was still surprised by Natasha’s presence.
“No… nothing… I was just a little worried about your health, after all, you haven’t been back for days. I just heard an explosion here and was a little worried, so I took a taxi to check on the situation.”
Red hair, a beautiful face, a graceful figure, familiar with Dr. Yinsen, and most importantly, named Natasha—she was definitely “Black Widow” Natasha Romanoff.
Chen Yu pretended not to know Natasha, walked up to Dr. Yinsen, and looked at Natasha in confusion: “Dr. Yinsen, who is this lady?”
Dr. Yinsen seemed to be confused about Natasha’s identity and replied: “Natasha, Natasha Rushman, a new female assistant in Stark Industries’ legal department.”
Chen Yu looked Natasha up and down, pretended to think for a moment, and then said with sudden realization: “Natasha? Tony told me when he was coming downstairs that he had a girlfriend named Natasha. Could it be her?”
“How could that be? We are not that kind of relationship!” Dr. Yinsen frowned and denied: “Tony really is something. It’s fine if he wants to be a playboy, but how can he casually joke about other girls’ reputations? What if colleagues misunderstand?”
Seeing Dr. Yinsen’s direct denial, which didn’t seem fake, Chen Yu continued: “I also heard Tony say that Miss Natasha is already living with you?”
“Slander, this is absolutely slander! When Tony comes out, I must have a good talk with him,” Dr. Yinsen reacted even more strongly and continued to refute.
“This is simply a misunderstanding. The house Tony gave me is too big, and there are many spare rooms. I’m not used to living alone, so I posted a room for rent online. Miss Natasha just saw my vacant room for rent listing online. When she first came to New York to look for a job, she needed a place to stay. It’s not the kind of relationship you and Tony are thinking of at all!”
Natasha frowned, her eyes showing disgust for Tony. Although this was the way she chose to approach Yinsen, it was indeed easy for people to misunderstand, and she was still unhappy with Tony Stark’s fabrications about her.
“Little brother, I want to tell you that not all women revolve around that playboy Tony Stark. Although I rejected his invitation to the ball at Stark Industries, he shouldn’t slander me like this, should he?”
Natasha’s acting was flawless. In just a few sentences, she established the image of a victim who was harassed by her boss, maintained her integrity by refusing him, and then the boss, in impotent rage, turned love into hate and spread rumors everywhere.
This meant that Natasha had not sold herself or allowed Dr. Yinsen to take advantage of her. She had simply found Dr. Yinsen’s room for rent listing online and successfully infiltrated his residence as a tenant, without arousing his suspicion.
Chen Yu had thought Natasha was using a honey trap to seduce Dr. Yinsen and get him to reveal some secrets about the arc reactor.
He was preparing to instruct Yinsen on how to handle a sugar-coated bullet—how to eat the sugar coating and send the bullet back.
But it turned out she had no intention of using a honey trap at all.
Or rather, was Dr. Yinsen such a pushover that Black Widow could easily manipulate him without even needing a honey trap?
Thinking of this, Chen Yu silently mourned for Yinsen.
It was truly pitiful.
If it wasn't as Tony said, then was Tony’s suspicion of Natasha just a lucky guess, a pure intuition?
In that case, it must be said that Tony’s intuition was sometimes quite accurate.
“Alright, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have believed whatever Tony said…”
Chen Yu decisively admitted his mistake and pushed all the blame onto Tony.
Anyway, Tony already had enough dirt on him; one or two more times wouldn't make a difference.
“It’s a good child to correct mistakes. So, little brother, can you tell me what happened here? I just arrived here and heard others say that two robots were fighting above Stark Industries, and I just heard a strange roar. Do you know what’s going on?”
Natasha finished speaking, staring at Chen Yu with her bright eyes, wanting to see how he would answer.
“I don’t know.” Chen Yu shrugged, saying with a clueless expression: “I’m just a child, how would I know what just happened? The crashing sounds outside just now scared me so much, I had no idea what was happening outside.”
He took a few steps back, creating a safe distance from Natasha, and then said, “Goodbye, Auntie! I’m going to find Tony to get to the bottom of this!”
He then ran directly to find Tony, planning to see if Pepper had finished replacing Tony’s arc reactor.
Chen Yu didn’t believe that Natasha, in her disguised state, would dare to chase after him and stop him.
With a top agent like Natasha, every word spoken to her must be careful and cautious. It’s highly likely that a team of professional intelligence analysts is behind her right now, and every word he says will be analyzed by her team.
Say less, make fewer mistakes; say nothing, make no mistakes. When it comes to acting, who can out-act a high-level agent like Natasha?
Too much contact with her was indeed not good.
It could easily lead to a lot of trouble.
It was better to find Tony.
The sooner Tony fired her, the more at ease he would be.
