Inside the Hogwarts Great Hall, Seamus continuously waved his wand at a cup of water, muttering, “Eye of rabbit, harp of string, turn this water into wine!”
After several attempts, the cup of water in front of Seamus remained unchanged.
Harry watched Seamus curiously, listening to the spell he was chanting, and leaned over to Ron, asking, “What exactly is Seamus trying to do with that cup of water?”
Ron glanced at Seamus, who was struggling with a spell, and sighed, “Seamus is practicing a Transfiguration Charm. He wants to turn the water in the cup into wine. Yesterday, he turned it into weak tea, and then...”
Before Ron could finish, there was a “boom!” Seamus had once again successfully caused an explosion.
The surrounding Little Wizards jumped in surprise at the sound of the explosion and turned to look at Seamus.
His hair was singed yellow, his face was blackened, as if he had just crawled out of a cupboard, and he was still spitting smoke from his mouth, causing everyone to burst into laughter.
Only Seamus himself looked bewildered, holding his wand, blinking his small eyes in confusion, seemingly still not recovered from the explosion.
“Hoo-hoo-hoo!”
The hoot of an owl diverted the Little Wizards' attention.
“The mail has arrived!”
More owls, carrying various small items, flocked in through the skylight of the Great Hall.
Chen Yu looked up and used his wizard robe to shield his food.
These mail-delivering owls had nothing to do with him; he hadn't subscribed to any newspapers, so no owls would deliver mail to him.
Besides, these owls were quite direct, and he didn't want to accidentally get “seasoning” dropped on his meat while eating.
Ron received an envelope and a newspaper. Harry, curious, borrowed Ron’s newspaper to read the latest news from the wizarding world.
Neville received a Remembrall from his grandmother.
It was meant to remind him not to forget important things.
It was a glass ball the size of a large marble, filled with white smoke.
Hermione saw the Remembrall in Neville’s hand and confidently said, “I read in a book that when the white smoke in a Remembrall turns red, it means you’ve forgotten something.”
No sooner had Hermione finished speaking than the Remembrall in Neville’s hand immediately turned red.
Neville desperately tried to recall what he had forgotten, but he was very frustrated and regretfully said, “Oh, no! I’ve forgotten what I’ve forgotten!”
Harry nudged Ron with his arm, making Ron look at the newspaper in his hand: “Look at this, the newspaper says someone broke into Gringotts, and the news suggests it was a Dark Wizard. Gringotts confirmed that there was indeed a break-in, but nothing was stolen. The incident occurred at Vault 713, and earlier that day, the vault’s owner had already emptied it, so nothing was lost.”
“Strange, that’s the vault Hagrid and I went to...”
After Harry finished reading the information in the newspaper, he frowned and fell into thought.
Hermione and Ron also fell into thought.
Malfoy walked past the Gryffindor long table and saw Neville constantly fiddling with the Remembrall in his hand. A mischievous idea popped into his head: Neville was Harry, Ron, and Chen Yu's roommate, and he looked like a big, silly oaf, so teasing him should be fun.
So, taking advantage of Neville's inattention, he quickly snatched the Remembrall from his hand, turned, and ran towards the Slytherin dining table.
“My Remembrall! Malfoy, give it back to me!”
Harry and Ron heard Neville's cry for help and immediately jumped up, ready to snatch back the Remembrall from Malfoy's hand and perhaps even fight Malfoy.
Harry and Ron had been annoyed with Malfoy for a long time and really wanted to fight him.
“Accio Remembrall!”
Chen Yu saw Malfoy run off after grabbing the Remembrall and immediately cast Accio on the Remembrall in his hand.
As the spell was cast, the Remembrall in Malfoy’s hand uncontrollably broke free and flew swiftly towards Chen Yu.
Chen Yu snatched the flying Remembrall.
Malfoy, with a gloomy face, looked at the menacing Harry and Ron, said a perfunctory, “You just wait and see!” and then hurried away.
Chen Yu looked at Neville holding the Remembrall, then at Malfoy’s gloomy face, and felt that this scene was somewhat familiar.
It seemed that shortly after getting the Remembrall, Neville fell during flying class and broke his arm.
Afterward, Malfoy picked up the Remembrall Neville dropped and rode off on his broom, and Harry chased after him on his broom.
During the chase, Malfoy threw the Remembrall into the distance, and Harry desperately caught it in mid-air.
This scene was witnessed by Professor McGonagall, and ultimately, Harry was exceptionally allowed to join the Gryffindor Quidditch team as a Seeker.
Flying class was this afternoon, and it happened to be with the Slytherin students.
It seemed the plot would unfold during the flying class this afternoon.
Chen Yu handed the Remembrall to Neville, patted Neville’s shoulder, and said, “Be careful in flying class this afternoon. Don’t get nervous and fall off your broom.”
Neville scratched his head, showing a simple and honest smile, and said, “Thank you, Chen Yu, for getting my Remembrall back. I’ll be careful about what you said.”
Looking at Neville’s naive smile, Chen Yu couldn’t help but sigh, patted Neville’s shoulder again, and returned to his seat.
It seemed he needed to keep an eye on Neville during flying class and try to use a Levitation Charm to prevent him from getting hurt.
As soon as Chen Yu sat down, Hermione quietly asked, “Chen Yu, you just reminded Neville not to fall off his broom. Is there danger in flying class? I’ve been reading 'quidditch through the ages' all day today, and it explains the origins of Quidditch, but I haven't found much information about how to fly. If you know anything, could you tell us?”
In Hermione’s eyes, Chen Yu was more reliable than Harry and Ron.
After spending these past few days together, she found that although Harry was famous, interacting with him felt not much different from an ordinary Muggle child.
Ron, despite being pure-blood and more knowledgeable about the magical world, was somewhat reckless and seemed unreliable.
Only Chen Yu seemed to have his own opinions, like her, knew how to study, understood learning, had a quick mind, and knew many spells.
Aside from his fondness for eating, he didn't have many flaws.
After Chen Yu sat down, he tapped his middle finger on the table, speaking thoughtfully and casually, “Hermione, you must have seen those flying brooms displayed in the shop windows in Diagon Alley. If a person’s entire weight rests on a broom, the contact area is just a single wooden stick. How uncomfortable would that be, unless some magic was applied to the broom to help the wizard stay fixed on it? Otherwise, I think it would be very easy to fall off due to inertia during flight.”
“Especially when suddenly braking in mid-air during flight. You've been in a car before. When a car traveling at high speed suddenly brakes, due to inertia, and without a seatbelt, your body easily tilts forward, or even rolls forward.”
“But don’t worry, as long as you follow Madam Hooch’s instructions, flying class should be safe. After all, if it were dangerous, Hogwarts wouldn’t offer flying class.”
Chen Yu remembered that Harry was a good flyer on a broom, otherwise he wouldn’t have become Gryffindor’s Seeker.
But the details of flying class, other than Neville falling off his broom and Malfoy and Harry fighting over the Remembrall, he really couldn't recall.
How to make a flying broom take off, he felt that this was truly a skill, and he needed to listen carefully in Madam Hooch's flying class.
He couldn't just be like Tom from 'Tom and Jerry', who, after getting on a broom, kicked it twice with his legs and, with a “woohoo,” could control the broom to take off into the sky, could he?
Chen Yu felt that riding a flying broom was not so childish, but he wasn't too worried about not being able to fly on a broom. After all, many wizards flew on brooms, and it had been around for thousands of years, which meant that flying brooms were already a mature mode of transportation.
If the risk factor were high, wizards wouldn't choose to fly on brooms.
After hearing Chen Yu’s answer, Hermione became even more worried about flying class this afternoon.
