The first class of the afternoon was Charms Class with Professor Flitwick.
By the time the owl delivered the package, Harry didn't have time to return to the Gryffindor dormitory to put away the Nimbus 2000 in his hand, so he had to take the unboxed flying broom to class.
When he arrived at Charms Class, he saw Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle.
Seeing the package in Harry's hand, Malfoy's face lit up.
He immediately assumed Harry was holding a flying broom and prepared to report him to a professor.
School rules stipulated that first-year students were not allowed to bring their own flying brooms.
But seeing Chen Yu and Hermione following closely behind Harry, Malfoy's expression immediately darkened.
He hadn't forgotten that Chen Yu still held his secret, so he snorted coldly and turned to enter the classroom.
Harry was a little surprised; Malfoy had rarely bothered him recently. Had he changed his ways?
He scratched his head in confusion, a happy smile on his face.
No matter what, Malfoy backing down was certainly something to be happy about.
For Ron, if there was a ranking of annoying students, Malfoy, who often bothered Harry and him, would definitely be at the top.
Seeing Malfoy back down, Ron raised Harry's arm, which held the flying broom, and grinned at Malfoy: “Malfoy, know what this is? A Nimbus 2000! You said your family had something, what was it? A Comet 260? A Comet is good, but it’s not even in the same league as a Nimbus.”
Malfoy originally didn't want to pay attention to Ron and Harry in front of Chen Yu, but hearing that Harry held a Nimbus 2000, he was incredibly surprised and confused.
Who would send Harry such an expensive gift?
But seeing Ron so arrogant, openly mocking him, he couldn't swallow his pride.
A Malfoy who couldn't retaliate after being mocked by the pauper Weasley wouldn't be considered a member of the House of Malfoy.
He immediately turned back, cast a wary glance at Chen Yu, and snapped at Ron, “So what if it’s a Comet 260? It’s better than you. With so many brothers in your family, I bet your future flying broom will definitely be an old broom left over from your brother. The poor Weasley Family certainly won’t buy you a new flying broom.”
After speaking, he glanced at Harry and continued, “A Nimbus 2000, is it? It’s not like our family can’t afford one. I’ll have my father buy me one right now! Harry, you just wait!”
Chen Yu looked at Ron helplessly. Professor McGonagall had clearly said in the letter not to let Harry publicize it loudly. Now, it would be common knowledge in a little while.
Ron's face was flushed with anger, choked by Malfoy's retort.
It's always the truth that hurts.
Malfoy was right; his parents probably wouldn't buy him a new broom.
For Wizards, flying brooms were luxury items.
A flying broom in a Wizard's hand was equivalent to a Muggle's sports car.
Although a Comet 260 was far inferior to a Nimbus 2000, the difference was like that between a BMW or Mercedes-Benz and a Rolls-Royce.
But with the Weasley Family's current tight finances, it was unlikely they would buy Ron a new broom during the school year.
Just look at Ron's gear; it was basically all second-hand.
He wore Bill's old robes, used Charlie's old wand, and his pet was Percy's unwanted rat.
Even the most important wand for a Wizard was inherited from his brother Charlie, let alone a flying broom.
It was estimated that during his seven years at Hogwarts, Ron would only be able to dream of a new flying broom.
Ron couldn't even afford a common used sports car now, let alone the Comet 260 he had just mocked.
Ron pouted, deflated, wanting to retort.
But Professor Flitwick suddenly appeared beside Malfoy.
Looking at the confronting Malfoy and Ron, he asked in a high-pitched voice, “Children, I hope you're not arguing, are you?”
Malfoy immediately dropped his arrogant expression and said to Professor Flitwick, “No, Professor, it's just that someone gave Potter a Nimbus 2000.”
Professor Flitwick flashed a bright smile and said to Harry, “A Nimbus 2000? That’s excellent. It seems Professor McGonagall really values you, my boy.”
Harry desperately suppressed the smile on his face and added to Professor Flitwick, “I actually have Malfoy to thank for getting it!”
Professor Flitwick glanced at Malfoy, who looked confused and shocked, and chose not to respond, instead saying to the Little Wizards, “Alright, children, it’s almost time for class. Hurry up and come in and take your seats.”
After speaking, he walked into the classroom.
Malfoy glared hatefully at Harry and Ron, then followed them into the classroom.
Hermione strode away, nose held high, still unwilling to talk to Harry and Ron.
From Harry and Malfoy's conversation, it was clear that Harry hadn't reflected on his actions of violating school rules and almost getting points deducted.
Chen Yu followed closely behind.
He wanted to find time to talk to Professor Flitwick about how to learn the Confundo.
Legilimency and Occlumency were too sensitive and only a few Wizards could learn them, so asking about the Confundo should be fine.
After all, many older Wizards loved to use the Confundo for pranks.
His inquiry about learning the Confundo wouldn't seem too abrupt.
When Chen Yu stepped into the classroom with his questions, Professor Flitwick was already standing on the specially designed podium, having begun his lecture for the day.
Today's topic was Alohomora, a very practical spell.
Hermione relied on Alohomora to escape Filch's pursuit and enter the room of Fluffy, the three-headed dog.
As soon as Professor Flitwick finished explaining, he told the Little Wizards to start practicing.
Chen Yu, Hermione, and Malfoy successfully cast Alohomora.
Professor Flitwick thought the three Little Wizards did well and awarded each of them one house point.
Malfoy looked at Harry provocatively, but saw that Harry wasn't paying attention to his taunt at all.
Harry's mind was currently wandering; his thoughts weren't on studying at all.
His mind was filled with fantasies of himself practicing on the Quidditch Pitch, riding his Nimbus 2000.
The entire class passed in a daze.
As soon as class was over, Harry grabbed his flying broom and rushed out of the classroom.
Ron followed closely behind.
Chen Yu, however, chose to stay behind, called out to Professor Flitwick, and asked about techniques for learning the Confundo.
Flitwick was a little surprised. He knew that this year's Gryffindor Little Wizards had produced two excellent spell geniuses.
One was Hermione, and the other was Chen Yu.
Both of them made rapid progress in learning spells in class, far exceeding their peers.
He hadn't expected Chen Yu to start asking a professor about the Confundo, which was taught in higher grades, so soon after entering Hogwarts.
Despite his surprise, he was also happy for his student.
Which professor wouldn't want their student to be a genius?
“Oh, my boy, the Confundo is a very advanced spell for Little Wizards. I'm glad you came to me to ask, rather than trying to learn it haphazardly on your own.”
“You see, the more advanced a spell is, the more cautious one should be. Every year, Little Wizards get into danger because they try to learn spells haphazardly...”
Professor Flitwick was a very patient professor. He first warned Chen Yu about the dangers of haphazardly learning advanced spells, and then explained the knowledge points of the Confundo to Chen Yu little by little.
【The player listened carefully to the professor's explanation of the Confundo. The proficiency of the Confundo has increased slightly.】
Seeing the system prompt, Chen Yu's face lit up, then he recovered and continued to listen attentively.
Chen Yu listened with rapt attention, many of Professor Flitwick's key points were eye-opening for him.
By the time Professor Flitwick finished speaking and Chen Yu came back to his senses, half an hour had already passed.
Professor Flitwick suddenly slapped his forehead, remembering that he still had a third-year Charms Class class that afternoon, and quickly packed up his teaching materials before rushing off.
Looking at the hastily departing Professor Flitwick, and seeing that the proficiency of his Confundo on his panel had reached (54/100).
Chen Yu felt a lingering desire.
Indeed, listening to the professor's lectures improved proficiency much faster.
