Zhutian: A Journey Through All Worlds Starting From Squid Games

Chapter 9: Game Restart (2)

The night passed uneventfully.

Jiang Shang slept until noon, and after having lunch at the hotel, he decided to go out and explore.

“The outside world is truly wonderful,” Jiang Shang sighed.

Perhaps he had been cooped up for too long, as even wandering aimlessly on the streets for an entire afternoon didn't bore him.

At seven in the evening, Jiang Shang found a Chinese restaurant and enjoyed a hearty meal.

Although it was a Chinese restaurant, the dishes still felt new to him; after all, he had barely eaten a good meal since he was six, and in prison, he rarely had special dishes except for on holidays.

Dinner finished, and it was nearly half past eight.

After withdrawing some money from the bank, Jiang Shang aimlessly strolled the streets again.

The time set on the business card was still far off, and it would only take him less than an hour to reach the pick-up location he remembered, so going there now would just mean waiting around.

“Let’s go to the supermarket,” Jiang Shang finally decided, having already walked the entire street once.

“What should I buy?” Jiang Shang pondered, looking at the various snacks before him.

“Forget it, I ate a bit too much tonight, so no snacks.” Jiang Shang left the snack aisle.

“Maybe I should buy a pack of cigarettes to try.

I’ve been an adult for so long and haven’t touched cigarettes or alcohol; I could give it a shot.” Jiang Shang thought it was a good idea, so he moved to the liquor counter, casually picking a bottle of wine called “Roosevelt No. 10.”

Jiang Shang then walked to the counter.

“Could you get me that?” Jiang Shang pointed to a box of cigars on the shelf.

He figured if he was going to smoke, he should smoke the most potent kind.

“Alright, that will be thirteen thousand five hundred seventy-eight Han Yuan in total,” the cashier sister said.

This completely bewildered Jiang Shang.

It would have been fine if she had said other garbled words, but how was he supposed to make sense of garbled numbers?

“Here.” Fortunately, cash could solve ninety percent of his troubles.

Jiang Shang handed a fifty-thousand Han Yuan note to the cashier sister.

“Alright, please wait a moment.” The cashier began to make change.

“Sir, here is your change.” The cashier sister handed the remaining money to Jiang Shang.

Jiang Shang took the change without counting it and walked out of the door with his items.

“Beep—” The alarm at the entrance sounded.

“Uh, sir, did you forget to pay for something?” The cashier sister asked Jiang Shang in a rather subtle way.

“No, I don’t think so?” Jiang Shang turned around, placed the wine and cigarettes on a nearby shelf, and patted himself down to show he wasn’t hiding anything.

“Hmm, maybe I didn’t demagnetize the items you bought?” the cashier sister said uncertainly.

Jiang Shang cooperatively handed the cigarettes and wine to the cashier sister, who demagnetized the items again.

“Beep—” The alarm sounded again.

“Is the alarm broken?” The cashier sister was a little confused.

She tried walking through the alarm herself, and it didn’t sound.

“Sir, could you please put down the items and walk through the alarm once?” the cashier sister asked Jiang Shang apologetically.

“No problem.” Jiang Shang cooperatively did as he was asked.

“Beep—” The alarm sounded once more.

“Uh, sir, could you please cooperate with us and let us search you?” the cashier sister tentatively asked.

“Go ahead,” Jiang Shang readily agreed.

“Ah, oh, alright.” The cashier sister was a bit startled, pausing for a moment before stepping forward.

She began to search him cautiously, as if afraid the clothes would hurt.

“Someone else can search me,” Jiang Shang suddenly spoke, looking at the timid appearance of the girl who seemed a bit younger than him.

He then added, “If you’re shy.”

“Ah, alright.” Upon hearing this, the cashier sister felt greatly relieved and quickly called the security guard at the door to search Jiang Shang.

Jiang Shang even heard her softly muttering, “Then why did you tell me to come before?” as she left.

Jiang Shang found this both amusing and frustrating.

He had actually meant, “You can come and search me,” and hadn’t specified that she should be the one to do it.

However, a slip of the tongue had led to this misunderstanding.

“Young man, could you please raise your hands? It’ll make it easier for me to search you,” the old man said to Jiang Shang upon reaching him.

“Alright.” Jiang Shang held his arms out to his sides.

The old man patted Jiang Shang down for a while but found nothing.

However, whenever Jiang Shang walked past the alarm, it would sound.

“I’m sorry, sir, it seems our machine is faulty.

We apologize for the inconvenience,” the cashier sister said, bowing to Jiang Shang.

“It’s alright.” Jiang Shang waved his hand to indicate he didn’t mind.

“Alright, now help me demagnetize this.” With that, Jiang Shang pulled out a butterfly knife from seemingly nowhere.

Seeing the cashier sister’s shocked expression, Jiang Shang simply demagnetized the butterfly knife himself, then threw the change the cashier sister had given him onto the counter.

“Keep the change, consider it a tip.” With that, Jiang Shang left the supermarket with his items.

Before the cashier sister could even react, Jiang Shang walked back in.

“I’m getting a lighter.” With that, Jiang Shang left again.

It wasn’t until Jiang Shang was long gone that the cashier sister realized she might have encountered a master thief.

They searched him, but couldn’t find anything?

This was, of course, Jiang Shang’s trick using his Full Level Hands.

When he passed by the household goods section on his way to check out earlier, he had a sudden thought to test the limits of his Full Level Hands, and the results were clear for everyone to see.

Jiang Shang himself didn’t know how he managed to avoid being searched while holding his hands out to the sides.

It felt as if his hands had a mind of their own, truly living up to the name Full Level Hands.

Furthermore, these Full Level Hands not only provided flexibility but also reached the pinnacle of strength in the world.

For example, Jiang Shang could now effortlessly crush an apple with just one hand, and this was still far from his limit.

He looked at the watch on his hand, which belonged to the original owner, No. 444; it was already nine o’clock at night.

Having nothing else to do, Jiang Shang decided to head to the pick-up location to wait for the car.

He pulled out a cigarette, held it between his fingers, and tried to light it for a long time without success.

Finally, an uncle nearby couldn’t stand it anymore and came over to tell Jiang Shang that he needed to hold it in his mouth and inhale while lighting it.

Only then did Jiang Shang manage to light the cigarette, and in gratitude, he lit one for the uncle as well.

“Inhale~ Exhale, cough cough! Cough cough cough!” A puff of smoke almost choked Jiang Shang to death.

After finally recovering, Jiang Shang decided to smoke slower this time.

“Inhale~ Exhale~” This time, Jiang Shang didn’t choke, but he inhaled it into his lungs, and so…

Ten o’clock at night.

“Damn it, what the hell is this thing?” Jiang Shang cursed.
