Apocalypse Beginning: I’M Pregnant With The Blackened Male Lead’S Child

Chapter 71: A life-threatening night raid

“What was that sound?!”

“It’s a flare! Red! Highest alert!”

“Quick! Get up! Someone infiltrated!”

“Damn it! Which direction?!”

Chaotic footsteps, shouts, and the sounds of gun bolts being pulled echoed from all directions.

Countless lights also flickered on, casting the previously dark stronghold into a shadowy, indistinct view.

“Damn it, that son of a bitch ambushed us!” Xiao Han spat.

Lu Shiyan’s face was ashen.

“There’s no time, we must finish this quickly!”

“You take Su Wan, hurry to the armory!” Xiao Han pushed them forward.

“Leave these bastards to me! I’ll buy you time!” He spun around abruptly, pulling an assault rifle from his waist.

“Today, these grandsons will learn who’s the grandpa!”

“Xiao Han, hold them off,” Su Wan urged.

“No time for chatter! Go!” Lu Shiyan growled, pulling Su Wan, and rushed towards their original destination without looking back.

Just as they turned a corner, nearing an unremarkable warehouse.

“Heh heh, quite lively, isn’t it?”

A voice came from the shadows on the warehouse roof, tinged with amusement.

Lu Shiyan and Su Wan stopped abruptly, looking up.

A tall, burly figure stood there, shouldering an exaggerated heavy machine gun.

He wore a grotesque mask.

“Scorpio’s subordinate, Black Faced Wolf,” the man’s voice was hoarse.

“Gentlemen, what a grand visit, why didn’t you announce your arrival?”

Lu Shiyan’s eyes turned cold; he had no time for pleasantries.

“Attack!”

He raised his arm, and a purplish-blue electric light exploded, condensing into a current that shot directly at Black Faced Wolf on the warehouse roof.

“Overestimating yourself!” Black Faced Wolf let out a sinister laugh from his throat, swiveling the machine gun on his shoulder, and it spat fire!

“Da da da da da!”

A rain of bullets poured down, striking where Lu Shiyan and Su Wan had just stood, kicking up sparks and gravel rubble.

The ground was instantly riddled with craters.

In the nick of time, Lu Shiyan had already wrapped an arm around Su Wan’s waist, diving towards a nearby container for cover.

Bullets chased at their heels, hitting the container’s metal skin with loud “clang, clang, clang” sounds.

Su Wan gripped Lu Shiyan’s arm tightly, her palms slick with cold sweat.

The air was filled with the smell of gunpowder.

“Damn it, the firepower is intense!” Lu Shiyan cursed under his breath, pressing against the cold container.

Under this heavy suppressive fire, if they delayed, they would become targets.

They had to finish this quickly.

“Su Wan, hold on tight!”

Before he finished speaking, Lu Shiyan lunged out, swinging his arm again!

A blazing inferno materialized out of thin air, rolling and roaring, forming a wall of fire that swept towards the warehouse roof.

The high temperature distorted the surrounding air.

“Petty tricks!” Black Faced Wolf squinted instinctively, his eyes dazzled by the firelight, but the machine gun’s roar did not diminish.

More bullets pierced through the wall of fire, still sweeping towards them in a dense barrage.

But he quickly stopped smiling.

Behind that wall of fire, a thicker, more violent purplish-blue lightning bolt silently penetrated the fiery cover, striking his right hand, which held the machine gun, at an imperceptible speed!

Tiny sparks adhered to the surface of the lightning.

“Zzzzzzt!”

A strong smell of burning flesh and an inhuman shriek burst forth simultaneously.

Black Faced Wolf’s right hand, encased in thick tactical gloves, along with the front half of the machine gun barrel, was instantly charred black and carbonized.

Muscle tissue burst open, revealing stark white bone, sizzling and emitting green smoke.

“Ah ah ah! My hand! My hand!”

He let out a painful roar, his body trembling violently, no longer able to grip the heavy machine gun.

The weapon fell from his shoulder with a loud “clank,” hitting the concrete roof of the warehouse and bouncing a few times.

Lu Shiyan gave him no chance to catch his breath.

He pushed off the ground, rocketing out from behind the container like a cannonball.

Stepping on protruding pipes and tiny bumps on the side of the warehouse wall, he used a few leverages to ascend the several-meter-high wall!

Su Wan only saw a blurry afterimage.

Too fast! Too strong!

This man was practically a human weapon! When could she become this strong herself?

Black Faced Wolf had just recovered from the pain of his severed hand and was reaching for his sidearm.

He looked up, and Lu Shiyan’s cold face was already inches away.

In those eyes, there was no anger, no pity, only indifference.

“You…” Terror flashed in his eyes.

A short blade, burning with dark red flames, had materialized in Lu Shiyan’s hand at some point.

The blade emitted high heat, and with a clean, precise slash, it cut across Black Faced Wolf’s neck, exposed outside the mask!

“Pfft!”

Warm blood gushed out, staining the metal mask on Black Faced Wolf’s face.

Blood dripped from the mask’s seams.

He widened his bloodshot eyes, a gurgling sound escaping his throat.

His tall, burly body swayed, then fell backward with a heavy thud onto the concrete roof, becoming still.

Those terrified eyes remained wide open.

From the moment Black Faced Wolf spoke until Lu Shiyan ended the fight, only a few tens of seconds had passed.

Lu Shiyan flicked the blood from the blade, and the flaming short blade dissipated.

He looked at Su Wan. “This is no place to linger, let’s go!”

Su Wan snapped out of her daze, forcefully suppressing the intense shock and turbulent emotions in her heart, and nodded vigorously.

She looked up at Lu Shiyan, watching him stand at the edge of the rooftop, the night wind stirring his clothes, moonlight falling upon him, her gaze incredibly complex.

This man, the ruthless decisiveness when he killed, that absolute disregard for an enemy’s life… it was truly… terrifying, yet somehow, inexplicably… incredibly cool! A raw and pure sense of power.

She stopped her wild thoughts and quickly ran to the warehouse wall.

Lu Shiyan extended a hand from above, his palm broad, fingers distinct: “I’ll pull you up.”

Su Wan didn’t hesitate for a moment, reaching out and grasping his large hand, which still carried a faint, imperceptible warmth and slight tingle from having just condensed lightning and fire.

A powerful and stable force came from above, and Su Wan felt her body lighten; she was effortlessly pulled onto the warehouse roof by him. His control over his strength was excellent, requiring almost no effort from her.

Beneath their feet lay Black Faced Wolf’s still-warm corpse and his heavy machine gun, now broken and deformed.

The air was filled with an even stronger smell of blood and that unique charred scent, mingling together, making it nauseating.

In the distance, the entire stronghold’s enemies had been completely alerted; countless flashlight beams swayed wildly like startled tentacles, and chaotic shouts and hurried footsteps were rapidly converging on their position. The sound of heavy weapons being dragged could also be faintly heard.

“The armory should be below us,” Lu Shiyan said, pointing to the warehouse beneath them, his voice completely devoid of emotion, as if he had just crushed an annoying ant.

No sooner had Lu Shiyan finished speaking than chaotic footsteps and faint shouts came from below the warehouse, clearly indicating that enemies were encircling them from all directions.
